The UNSUNG DEATH of Street Pups

Street Dogs weep when any human dies, but their own death goes silent and unnoticed … hence this obituary ..

“Born on the night of 9th October 2020 to their young mother under the care of their aging grandmother (naani) …

The 6 siblings together weathered all chilly winter nights huddled close to each other out in the open ..

And endured the deafening sounds of fire crackers and fire blasts on the night of Diwali ..

They grew up into fine little toddlers by the time the New Year Eve arrived, ready to explore the world around them ..

From the hairy ‘Oreo’, to ‘Blacky’ and ‘Browny’, the look alikes ‘Chintu’ and ‘Mintu’, and the tiniest of them all ‘Piddu’.. they made a funsome and yet a loving and caring family with their young mom ‘Chotu’ and an affectionate naani ..

With nothing worthwhile left to be done during the deep dread of corona..
Watching these little pups play and grow on street, feeding and protecting them became our favorite pastime ..

This little family of innocent beings unknowingly gave us the much needed only company and comfort we had in the lonely and hopeless corona times ..

But as fate would have it … Browny fell prey to a speeding car just a few days after being saved from its head sticking into a grill,

While Piddu and Chintu are today lying still within 5 months of being born .. with their mom Chotu and naani trying helplessly to wake them up before the MCD van arrives to dump them …”

Leaving us behind to wonder .. what after all was the purpose of their small and short life  .. why were they sent on earth if they had to be snatched back by destiny even before they could understand the world around them … what connection from the past they had with us, that their death has left us heart broken …

They were not here to do any Paap aur Punya themselves .. they just went about playing around innocently and merrily ..

Probably through such voiceless little beings, God has devised a way of testing our deeds .. whether we do Paap or Punya to His living creations  …

Maybe in some future incarnation we meet them and are able to thank them for the pleasure and sense of belongingness and connectedness they unknowingly gave us …

Amen!!!!
