Is it HIGH Time Now that the Forever Bhai of Bollywood Does Some Intraspection ?

Time now for some intra-spection by Salman Khan?? ..

Salman Khan is an actor who never fails to attract attention into whatever he does. Be it acting in Bollywood movies of mass appeal, or hosting the Big Boss TV show, doing some massy dance steps on stage, remaining forever bachelor, being on the wrong side of the law several times, swirling his favourite bracelet in the air, tearing his shirt to show his biceps and torso, or even finding an 82nd place (and the highest among Indians) in the Forbes 2018 list of Top 100 celebrity earners in the world, Salman always makes heads turn, more than any other actor in India does.

But when it comes to the real artistic value of the acting that he has done, Salman draws more or less a blank. For an actor of his stature, winning just two Filmfare awards, including one for Best Debut, and not a single National Award for Best Actor, appears extremely feeble for an acting career spanning over 30 years across some 130 plus movies. This is also very insignificant in comparison to the award profile of some much younger actors of recent times.

By contrast, the age at which Salman is right now, most actors turn to much meatier roles or biographies that leave a strong social message, either as a mark of their acting prowess acquired over their career, or as an indication of their increasing maturity level or as a desire for giving back to the society through movies that have the capability of inspiring a whole generation.

While Shahrukh Khan did Chak De India at the age of 42, Amir Khan has done Taare Zameen Par ; Dangal, Hritik has done Kabil; Super 30, Akshay has done Airlift, Padman, Kesari, Toilet ek Prem Katha, Bell Bottom etc. etc., John Abraham has done Parmanu; Madras Cafe; Batla House; Shoot out at Wadala; Salman has done no movie that falls in these categories. Except for Bajrangi Bhaijaan and Sultan to some extent, all his other 130+ movies fall precisely in the same league, same genre, same category, catering to the same audience with little or no change at all.

What is even more depressing is that, his recent choice of movies is only getting worse, as indicated by his latest two movies Bharat and Radhe, with Radhe being the worst ever rated movie of Salman Khan of all times.

Both the movies make you wonder who is a bigger fool ..
… The story writer for underestimating the intellect level of today’s audience..
… Salman Khan for believing that his fans will swallow anything he turns out
… Or we the audience for wasting our time on watching them ..

The movie Bharat seems like a refresher course in Indian history after independence, with many disjointed scenes, no targetted storyline, and many small time actors thrown in for very short time without any long-term purpose. On the other hand, Radhe seems like a confused mish mash of Dabang, Wanted, Kick, Tiger etc. etc… One doesn’t understand who is hitting whom and why??
What is Disha Patani doing in the movie except for changing her clothes every minute..??
Why is Jackie Shroff bent upon making a fun of himself??

In an age when every new coming actor is experimenting with a variety of roles that reflect the larger issues faced by the audience to connect with their fans better, it is time now that Salman Khan
… also dares to step out of his obsession with himself and for himself, which render both the fellow actors and the entire story line of the movie a victim
… understands the nerves and demands of the new, young, educated and learned audience in the OTT times.
… take up projects that break his image trap and earn him not only genuine respect and recognition with the critics alongwith a place with the acting stalwarts for eons to come,
…. uses his charisma for a better nobel cause through his movies which leave a huge everlasting impact on the society

If the repeated failure of his last few films is anything to go by, then it is time now that Salman Khan does some intra-spection,
after finally having earned everything that one aspires for in one’s lifetime in this cricket -movie addict country…..
